How God Used My Weakness to Bless Teen Girls…And Soon Guys too!
I almost missed celebrating, but today is National Author’s Day.
Even though I’ve been an author for five years and will soon be a two-time author, it’s still hard for me to believe.
If you had told me when I was in high school, I would write a book one day, I would have laughed in your face.
Why?
Because I hated English and would rather solve 1,000 math problems than write one paragraph.
Even though my first book, 7 Secrets Guys Will Never Tell You: A Teen Girl’s Guide on Love, Sex, and Relationships, is five years old, God continues to reveal to me that His strength is made perfect in my weakness.
A couple of months ago, I went to my P.O. Box and had a HANDWRITTEN LETTER from a 17-year-old girl who had read my book.
Not a text message or direct message on social media…A good old-fashioned, handwritten letter…
(I had no idea teenagers even knew how to mail a letter. 😂) Below is an excerpt:
“Dear Jackie, I’m 17 years old and I am on my second round of reading your book, 7 Secrets Guys Will Never Tell You. I love this book and it is so relatable! (She then shared her story and asked me for advice) …I hope you will be able to write me back some day and thank you for writing such an awesome book!”
God knows the struggles of teen girls and has allowed me to address those struggles in a manner I didn’t believe I was equipped to. To discover girls are enjoying the book so much they’re reading it a second time around is extremely humbling.
I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate National Author’s Day, than to offer a 20% discount on my first book, 7 Secrets, for 3 DAYS ONLY through November 3rd at 11:59PM EST/10:59PM CST. Just go here and enter the discount code: AuthorDay2021.
The 2nd Time Around
I mentioned earlier that I would soon be a two-time author.
For years, mothers have requested I create resources for their sons. And teen guys have also begged me in class, and even in their letters to write a book for them:
“Your presentation really helped open my eyes. Before it, I was planning on losing my virginity at any time, at any moment. Last summer, I was one step away from sex. I’m glad I didn’t take it, especially because the girl wasn’t a virgin. Like that kid said, please publish a book. I need all your ideas and quotes on hand for me to defend my position and stay abstinent. Thank you!” ~High School Guy
Well, that book for teen guys is now a reality!
And I’m so excited about the feedback I’ve already received from teen guys and parents who’ve read the manuscript…
“Thank you for writing The Truth About Sex. I loved the honesty of the conversations and learning that boys are valuable too. I was glad to read that other teen guys were feeling some of the same things that I do. It lets me know that the way I feel about waiting is okay.” ~Matthew, 15
“The Truth About Sex will help me with future dialogue with my teenage son and I would recommend it to every parent of a pre-teen or teen son.” ~Travis Stoves, Father of a teen guy
“As a single mom, the conversations that I was able to have with the aid of this book were priceless. My son and I read it together; we both enjoyed it. He didn’t see it as punishment or unnecessary, but very helpful.” ~Charlene Clark, Mom & Teacher
I mailed the proof back to the printer last week and should have the books in hand in five or six weeks.
The official launch date is January 8th, but I’ll be taking pre-orders soon.
What’s better than having a book about relationships for your teen daughter, than having a book for her boyfriend as well?
Or better yet, for your teen son?
