The Day I Changed What I Pray!

iStock_000005119542SmallThe other morning I woke up thinking about something that had happened the previous day that changed the way I pray every day.

Let me give you a little background. Before I go into a classroom or an assembly, I pray that God's Spirit will rest upon me as I speak.  I’m aware that His Spirit is always present on the inside of me. My prayer is that His Spirit also rests upon me so the students can sense His presence. I also take authority over every demonic spirit that will try to hinder the students from hearing and receiving my message of TRUTH.

You say the truth and I am happy you tell it like it is because that’s what my generation needs…the TRUTH. ~High School Student

After an assembly on this particular day, a teacher approached me with tears in her eyes and said, "Thank you for what you do!" She then kept repeating, "God is ALL over you!" Just hearing confirmation that God’s presence was indeed visible upon me brought tears to my eyes and caused the hairs on my arms to rise. Isn’t it strange how we can pray for God to do something and then become amazed when our prayers are answered?

The Truth of the Matter

When I speak in the schools, it's frustrating for me that I can't give the students the whole TRUTH that will set them FREE because I can't tell them about God—the only giver of true FREEDOM. And trust me, with the issues many of them are dealing with at home, only God can help them. Fortunately, God often sends me messages (like the one I received through this teacher), to encourage me and let me know that whether I mention His name or not, He can still make Himself known through me.

I realized that morning that I shouldn't only pray for God's Spirit to rest upon me when I'm speaking, but that should be my prayer every morning regardless of what I'm doing that day. Imagine what our world would be like if strangers approached us in the grocery store, mall or our place of business and said, “I see God ALL over you!”

Now, this is how we change the culture and the world—when the world starts seeing (and not just hearing about), God through those who are called to represent Him to the world!

Won’t you join me by praying every day that God’s Spirit will rest upon you so that others will sense His presence when you are in the room?

    Jackie,

Thank you for what you are, what you do, and more importantly, what you're willing to do! The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few as you know. Talking about the word and living the word are two different things that are sometimes confused as one in the same. One is about communication only and the other is about demonstration with your life. It's obvious which category you fit into and I pray that our Heavenly Father will bless you to the degree of your service to others :)…

    Always believing in your best!
