2020: The Year that Enlarged My Territory & My Impact
For many years now, I have said the following: “I would love to reach a million teens without any adult knowing who I am.”
And I can understand if this statement makes no sense to you. So, let me explain…
My goal has always been to empower teens to live up to their full potential.
It has NEVER been to be famous.
As a matter of fact, my fear has always been becoming well known, and everything that comes with that.
I’m much more comfortable on the front lines reaching teens one student at a time, than in the limelight basking in front of the masses.
I know! I know! I’m not sure how long I thought it would take me to reach a million teens with only one-on-one conversations.
But, in the middle of a pandemic, God blew my mind and allowed me to meet my goal of reaching a million teens/young adults.
And it happened in a way I hadn’t even considered…YouTube.
I guess technically those are one-on-one conversations. They’re just virtual.
Not only did my YouTube channel exceed a million views, 1,183,760 to be exact, those views have come from teens and young adults in 162 countries.
The True Measure of Impact
If I didn’t learn anything else in 2020, God taught me that it’s not my job to gauge the impact that my message has on teens and young adults.
There was one message I received from a young lady on Facebook this year that stood out to me. You can read the interchange below:
I was so intrigued that someone’s life could be changed via a YouTube video, that I did reach out to her to chat further.
She said after finding me on YouTube, she watched a ton of my videos and they gave her exactly what she needed in order to walk out the commitment she had made to become celibate until marriage.
We spoke for an hour on the phone and she sent me this message afterwards:
“Good evening Ms. Jackie, I want to say thank you for granting me an hour of your time. I am extremely grateful for you and your ministry and movement. God bless you! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep fighting for young girls. We need you!”
I will never again try to determine what the impact of my message will be, whether it’s delivered in person or virtually.
I’ll just keep showing up via whatever platform God opens for me and let God do the rest.
After all, these are His children.
I’m just a vessel to bring them hope and help set them free from a culture that doesn’t honor the plans He has for them.
And it looks like what God started in 2020 will continue in 2021…
2021: A Year of Global Impact
A mom in Copenhagen, Denmark reached out to me this week about the possibility of me doing a virtual workshop for teen girls and their moms in 2021.
In the words of the mom: “These girls are so ‘Americanized’ with all the movies they watch and so I think that a workshop coming from America could be something rather ‘cool.’”
The pandemic gave me the push I needed to move into the virtual arena, which has opened the door for global impact.
Now I can’t wait to see what doors God will open in 2021 and beyond.
I believe the latter days will be greater than the former.
And hopefully, you and your daughter will continue to join me on this journey.
In the meantime, if there are any specific topics that you’d like me to address on the blog this upcoming year, please let me know by replying to this email.
I can’t do this without you. I need your feedback to better help you, help your daughter so we can all win in 2021. 😃
Happy New Year!
