Three Easy Ways to Boost Your Daughter’s Success This School Year
If your daughter is like most teens after a long, leisurely summer break, it takes a little while to get back into the #Back2School flow.
Waking up early…
Having a full schedule, including extracurricular activities…
Doing homework…
Studying for tests…
Plus trying to have a life?
As the kids would say, “The struggle is real.”
But here’s the good news: You can help your daughter overcome “the struggle” starting today.
A Little Positivity Goes a Long Way
My community’s local lifestyle magazine reached out to me a couple months ago seeking advice for parents of teens to help them prepare their kids for #Back2School success.
This month they featured my article where I breakdown, “Three Ways to Motivate Your Teen This School Year.”
And guess what Mom?
Motivating your daughter won’t cost you a dime.
Just a little positivity on your part…
- Help her find her “YES!”When your daughter identifies a positive dream/goal she’s so eager to achieve (a.k.a. her “YES”), that she won’t let anything or anyone get in her way, saying “NO” to negativity that could prevent her from having a successful year becomes easier to do.
- Use words to build her self-esteem.The bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue. So, words do matter. Not just the ones your daughter will hear from her peers at school. But the words she hears from you at home. So be strategic about depositing words of affirmation into her “self-esteem bank” until she’s rich with the confidence to excel both academically and socially.
- Focus on the benefits of making good choices as much if not more than the consequences of making bad ones. I gave these tips in this order for a reason. So, before you talk to your daughter about making good choices this school year, make sure she has identified her “YES” first. Next, spend time building up her self-esteem so she knows she is worthy of having the successful year she envisions for herself. Then, when you do talk about making choices, spend more time talking about the benefits than the consequences.
And there you have my three tips to give your daughter a #Back2School boost so she can enjoy a successful year academically and socially.

Now that you’ve read the tips, which of the three do you think will benefit your daughter the most this school year? I’d love to know why in the comments below.
